What is Calcium Carbonate Powder?

One of the most useful mineral fillers, ground from calcite, aragonite and marble.

Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is one of the most abundant mineral compounds in the Earth’s crust. It occurs in limestone and marble, formed over millions of years.

The powder is made by extracting and grinding rocks such as calcite, aragonite and marble into a white, odorless, neutral powder in a range of particle sizes.

Lumps from the mine are crushed and milled, then ground to different sizes. Coarser grades serve construction. Micronized, high-mesh grades serve precise industrial uses.

Same chemistry, different quality

Natural sources are chemically the same, but differ in purity, whiteness and uniformity. That is why the grade you pick matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can’t find your answer? Contact our team and we will help you choose the right grade.

What is calcium carbonate powder used for?

It is a filler and functional additive in plastics and rubber, paints, paper, construction and cement, animal feed, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, water treatment, and adhesives and sealants.

Which industries use calcium carbonate?

Plastics (polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC), paint, paper, construction, animal feed, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, and water treatment.

What particle sizes are available?

Industrial grades range from 400 to 3000 mesh. Coarser grades suit construction, and finer, higher-mesh grades suit plastics, paint and other precise uses.

What is the purity of the product?

Food-grade calcium carbonate is above 99% pure. Industrial purity depends on the raw material and processing, so request a laboratory analysis for your grade.

What is the difference between coated and uncoated?

Coated powder is treated with stearic acid, which makes the particles water-repellent and helps them work in polymers and plastics. Uncoated powder is the standard filler grade.

Is it safe to handle?

Calcium carbonate is generally low-risk, but inhaling fine particles may irritate the respiratory system. Follow standard dust-handling precautions.

What packaging options are available?

Standard, durable, moisture-resistant industrial bags. Contact us if you need a specific bag size.
